Where Culture Is Lived
Casa Abierta is our rotating cultural salon, a refined gathering space where Mexico’s most compelling contemporary artists, designers, writers, and makers take residence inside the resort. Set within the lobby and adjacent meeting spaces, Casa Abierta transforms everyday moments into immersive cultural encounters.
Where Culture Is Lived
Designed to blur the line between guest and creator.
Inspired by Waldorf Astoria’s legacy of iconic salons and grand gatherings, Casa Abierta reinterprets this tradition through the lens of modern Mexico’s creative renaissance. Here, guests are invited beyond observation — into conversation, participation, and creation.
Throughout the year, resident artists bring their studios to life through:
- Live creative sessions in the Astoria Lounge
- Rotating art exhibitions in public spaces
- Open studios and design conversations
- Hands-on workshops in ceramics, block printing, natural dyeing, scent blending, and more
- Limited-edition pieces created exclusively for Waldorf Astoria Riviera Maya

Colección Serpentina
A Mexico City based studio co-founded by designer Jesús Rentería Franco. Through a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Mexican serpentina paper, the exhibition transforms color, texture, and form into sculptural works that celebrate identity and craftsmanship. Each piece reflects a dialogue between artisanal heritage and modern design — where paper becomes light, structure, and emotional atmosphere.

Prince Lauder
Visual artist recognized as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary collage. Recently honored with the 2025 Innovation Prize, his work transforms fragmentation into harmony — where layered elements converge into bold, geometric compositions of striking clarity.
Through a refined visual language that bridges structure and contemporary culture, Prince Láuder reimagines beauty as balance, rhythm, and cohesion. His residency invites guests to experience collage not as accumulation, but as a sophisticated dialogue between order and imagination.
